IT is working for our GOOD
God is always at work, but He doesn’t always show us the bigger picture. This requires us to trust Him.
Looking at the story of Joseph, God was at work when Jacob was making him that coat of many colors.
God was at work when Joseph was telling on his brothers to his father.
God was at work with his brothers were selling him to the Ishmaelite traders.
God was at work when he was in the house of Potiphar.
God was at work when he was thrown in prison.
He was still at work when Joseph interpreted the dreams of the two prisoners. And God was still at work when Joseph interpreted the dream of pharaoh.
God was still working when pharaoh elevated Joseph to second-in-command over all of Egypt.
During all these times, Joseph probably didn’t have a clear understanding of what God was doing, but he kept a good spirit in him.
In today’s versus we see that Joseph finally could see what God had been doing all along. He was able to respond to his brothers, not with anger but grace:
“But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and Lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.” – Genesis 45:5, 7-8 NKJV
God is ALWAYS at work in us, through us, and for us. ONLY God can bring good out of bad and He does that for His people.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28 NKJV
